Is diet or regular soda worse? “Phenylalanine Warning”, what does that mean?

Both types of soda are bad, but diet soda is worse than regular soda. Sad to say but it's true. The ingredient aspartame is an artificial sweetener (NutraSweet, Equal, Benevia, NatraTaste, etc.) that causes brain cell damage leading to several health issues. I personally choose not chew gum because aspartame is in practically all of them. Check it out next time you are waiting in line at the grocery store.

Aspartame is made of 3 components, 50% phenylalanine (essential amino acid), 40% aspartic acid (amino acid) and 10% methanol (wood alcohol). Methanol is highly toxic to the human body and can cause several health problems, and even lead to death.

The European Common Market, has banned Aspartame in all children's products.  While the FDA in America says that Aspartame is safe for children, pregnant women and safe while lactating (http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/artificialsweetner.htm ).

Why is this happening? Because Monsanto the largest company working our food supply and owns the NutraSweet Company which manufactures Aspartame.

Aspartame has a history; I suggest watching Sweet Misery- A Poisoned World, This is a free documentary you can find online that explains well. Observing sites like http://www.aspartamekills.com/  will help guide you to learning the appropriate and correct information!

To cut my soda drinking habit I switched to carbonated mineral water (San Pellegrino). If I want more flavor I experimented with different stevia sweeteners. Stevia is a natural plant sweetener (aka Sweetleaf). The sweetness is 200-300 times sweeter than natural sugar, so a very small amount is needed.  Trying different brands of stevia is also helpful.  Some people have told me that they like and dislike different brands because of the differences in taste. The Natural Alternative in Paso Robles, CA has flavors like vanilla and root beer. If you enjoy coffee the local coffee shop Amsterdam in Paso Robles, CA also supplies the option of using stevia in your coffee instead of sugar.

Phenylalanine is an essential amino acid and is considered essential for normal human beings. People with Phenylketonuria (aka PKU) need to avoid this amino acid to help prevent mental deterioration.  Finding "Phenylalanine Warning" on food and drink products tells people with PKU that they need to avoid consuming this product.

Next question please!!! My pleasure!
